Few rivers carry as much history as the Mekong and on this 17-day journey you'll follow its course through Cambodia and southern Vietnam. You'll start your tour among the temples of Angkor, where visitors are drawn to marvel at its scale and centuries-old stone carvings.
Life along the Mekong reveals itself slowly as your river cruiser sails along the Mekong River to visit stilted villages and silk weavers. In Phnom Penh, the ornate Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda sits close to the more recent chapters of Cambodia's history at Choeung Ek.
Crossing into Vietnam, the landscape along the Mekong unfolds presenting riverside villages and floating markets. Your cruise ends in Can Tho, gateway to the delta's canals before Ho Chi Minh City and the Cu Chi Tunnels bring your tour to a close.

Away from busy roads, the local families of Tân Chân, raise freshwater fish under the stilts of their homes in the peaceful river setting. Sail aboard a tender sampan navigating narrow canals to explore the floating communities of this border town.
Your Cambodian adventure begins with an overnight flight to Siem Reap, gateway to the Angkor temples and a city built around the Khmer Empire, one of the great civilisations of Southeast Asia, ruling the region for over 600 years.
On arrival in Siem Reap, we’ll transfer you to your hotel for a four-night stay. Tonight, gather for a welcome dinner of some of Cambodia's most delicious traditional countryside cuisine in a local restaurant overlooking their lush green gardens.

Today we’ll discover the temples of Angkor, from the walled city of Angkor Thom to the ruins of Ta Prohm - a temple being reclaimed by nature. Now, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Angkor complex was originally built between the 9th and 15th centuries and served as the capital of the Khmer Empire.
We’ll start our day of discoveries at the South Gate of Angkor Thom, where statues of gods and demons line your approach. There will be time to explore Bayon, where more than 200 stone faces are carved on to the temple towers of the upper terrace, before heading to Phimeanakas, a pyramid shaped temple offering views over the complex. At Ta Prohm, one of Cambodia’s most photographed temples, the ruins have mostly been left as they were found, with towering trees growing through the stonework.
We’ll return to Siem Reap for lunch at New Hope Cambodia’s Restaurant. This social enterprise aims to provide unemployed and often undereducated Khmers with valuable cooking and hospitality training that will help build their confidence and skills for future employment opportunities.
This afternoon we’ll visit Angkor Wat, built in the early 12th century by King Suryavarman II over three decades as a state temple dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. Its five central towers represent the peaks of Mount Meru, home of the gods in Hindu cosmology. Here we’ll take in the temple’s scale, the detail of its bas-relief carvings, and intricate architecture.
We’ll complete the day at Pre Rup Temple, watching as the sun sets across the complex before returning to Siem Reap for the evening.

This morning we’ll travel south of Siem Reap to meet a true local legend - the renowned and contemporary artist Channy Chhoeun. At his home studio and gallery, you’ll be welcomed with tea while you explore his artwork and hear his life story first hand. Born in Battambang in 1988 and raised in a remote jungle settlement, Channy first found his love of art drawing with sticks in the soil before going on to study at Phare Ponleu Selpak, a free-education arts school that shaped his creative journey. Today, Channy’s work focuses on birds and the delicate connection between wildlife, humans, and the environment, raising awareness of the threats facing Cambodia’s biodiversity. After this inspiring encounter, we’ll return to the hotel with the afternoon to spend at your own leisure.
This evening, discover Cambodia's rich artistic heritage at the renowned Phare Cambodian Circus. A contemporary performance which blends acrobatics, aerial ballet and storytelling deeply rooted in the traditions, folk stories and music of the country. Ran as a social enterprise the show supports disadvantaged youth through arts education and performance training.
We have left today free giving you the flexibility to relax at your hotel or explore Siem Reap at your own pace. If you'd like to see more of the city, head into the town centre here you might like to spend some time visiting the National Museum where artefacts and displays provide more context to the temples you have visited. Perhaps you’d prefer to visit some of the markets – the Made In Cambodia Market showcases local designers and artisans while the Old Market offers handicrafts, souvenirs, spices and produce. For a more relaxing afternoon, take a leisurely walk along the riverside or book into one of the many spas for a relaxing massage.

This morning we’ll travel by coach from Siem Reap to Kampong Cham. After lunch, it’s time to continue on to the next part of our journey - a 7-night cruise along the Mekong River. On embarkation of the ship, you’ll meet your crew and savour the first sunset across the river.
Later, join a pre-dinner talk about Cambodia and learn a few basic Khmer phrases.

During a morning excursion we’ll explore the peaceful village of Angkor Ban, with its centuries old wooden stilt houses and slower pace of life. After having lunch on board the ship, we’ll travel by three-wheeled tuk tuk to Koh Dach (Silk Island) famous for its silk weaving communities. Here you’ll discover more about the process from worm to loom and have the chance to watch families weave the iconic Cambodian karma.

Koh Chen is known for clay and metalwork, the intricate craft has been passed from generation to generation and during a short walking tour we’ll meet a local copper and silversmith to learn more about the craft and see some of the items that have been forged and decorated.
From Koh Chen, we’ll travel to Oudong, once the ancient capital of Cambodia, stopping at the Vipassana Dhura Meditation Center. This prominent Cambodian monastery and insight meditation sanctuary offers space for visitors to practice mindfulness or simply tour its ornamental gardens.
We’ll enjoy lunch on board the ship and take time to relax this afternoon. Later, take a pedal-powered cyclo to the Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Phnom Penh for a signature cocktail in the famed Elephant Bar.

This morning we’ll explore the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda complex, taking in the palace buildings, the silver floor tiles that give the pagoda its name, and the gold and jewelled Buddha statues that are considered national treasures. We’ll walk to the nearby National Museum, a beautiful sandstone building that holds an extensive collection of Khmer art.
After lunch we’ll drive to Choeung Ek, one of the memorial sites known as the Killing Fields. Today a Buddhist stupa respectfully displays the skulls and bones of those who died during the Khmer Rouge regime.
Back on board the ship, we’ll watch a lively performance of Khmer Apsara dancing, with the opportunity to meet the performers afterward.

As the ship cruises towards the Cambodia-Vietnam border, why not start the day with some light exercise on the Sky Deck to work up an appetite for breakfast. As we sail along the Mekong River, you may choose to take part in other onboard activities such as a ship tour, a round of mini-golf with fellow travellers or simply bask in the scenery as we cross the border. After lunch on board, the ship will anchor near Tân Châu. We'll get our first taste of local life and the Vietnamese landscape as sampan tenders take us through the floating village to watch how families in the Mekong Delta raise freshwater fish beneath their homes.
Later, we’ll return to the ship for a time-honoured Vietnamese lion dance, followed by dinner and evening entertainment as we sail to Vam Nao.

Start your day with a leisurely breakfast before we visit Phu Tan, the provincial capital of An Giang. We’ll tender ashore to explore a craft village known for its handmade Ca Rang clay stoves – a traditional stove that has been used by southern Vietnamese cooks for centuries.
During lunch on board, your ship will continue to sail along the river and anchor near Tiger Island. Take a scenic walking tour through lush rice fields and vegetable gardens, stopping to see the family-run workshops crafting plant pots and incense. Later we’ll visit the famed “Mr. Tiger’s Temple' to listen to the folklore that surrounds the island's name.
We’ll return to the ship in time for a cocktail competition and an evening of entertainment

This morning, breakfast is a relaxed affair as the ship cruises towards the provincial capital of Long Xuyên. Take a tender and experience the Long Xuyên floating market where vendors sell an array of fruits, vegetables, drinks and homewares from their boats, see families who live on the water and share their stories.
Lunch will be onboard as we cruise towards the province of Dong Thap. In the village of Dinh Yen the mat-weaving tradition is an important part of the village’s cultural heritage - almost every household has a loom, and while mechanized looms are now more prominent, the craft has been passed down through the generations. Today, observe as bright red, yellow, green and purple straw is being woven, and see colourful mats laid out to dry in the sun.
We’ll return to the ship and cruise towards Can Tho. This evening we’ll be entertained with an authentic Southern Vietnamese folk music performance known as “Ð?n ca tài t?”.

Enjoy breakfast on the terrace of Claypot Restaurant this morning and perhaps take some time to take in the view from the pool or from your private balcony before disembarkation this morning. Meet your guide at the pier and transfer to your Can Tho Hotel with the rest of your day at leisure.
Can Tho is the cultural and commercial centre of the Mekong Delta. It’s a labyrinth of canals and waterways that host floating markets and the nearby Ninh Kieu Wharf is a hub for residents and tourists alike. Close to the riverfront, as evening draws in, the Ninh Kieu Night Market fills two streets with food stalls and local crafts, it’s a lively spot to walk through before dinner or simply to sit and relax with a drink.

Take a leisurely breakfast and free time this morning before we transfer to Ho Chi Minh City.
Later this afternoon, once you’ve settled into your hotel, you might like to go out and discover some of the city. Paris Square is home to the red-brick Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica and the Saigon Central Post Office, a grand nineteenth-century building. As night falls, venture to one of the city’s rooftop bars that offers sweeping views over the skyline.

Delve into Vietnam's history with a profound visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an underground network that played a key role during the war and offers a look into the ingenuity and resilience of the Viet Cong.
Travelling from Ho Chi Minh City to the Cu Chi district, the scenery shifts from busy streets to open countryside. At the tunnels, you can experience the narrow passageways first-hand and learn about living conditions, traps, and tactics that defined guerrilla warfare. We’ll also watch a short documentary that provides further context to the challenges faced during the conflict.
This evening, we’ll gather for a farewell dinner. We’ll savour Vietnamese dishes, share stories from your trip and raise a final toast to new friendships.

Enjoy some time at leisure this morning, perhaps you’ll take in a few more sights around the city such as the Jade Emperor Pagoda or pick up some last-minute souvenirs at Ben Thanh Market to remember your trip. Later, we’ll transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

Your holiday comes to an end as we arrive back in the UK.
On this holiday you will visit New Hope, a training restaurant that is supporting young Khmers living just outside of Siem Reap. Students are offered valuable cooking and hospitality training that will help build their confidence and skills for future employment opportunities.
We'll also experience a cultural performance at Phare Circus. Not only an incredible show but also a social enterprise which supports through artistic and academic education.
