Cape Town sits where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet, beneath Table Mountain on the shores of Table Bay. A working harbour, celebrated vineyards, fine beaches and mountains rich in flora and fauna all sit within easy reach of each other and you’ll spend four nights here exploring the city and Stellenbosch Winelands.
From Cape Town, we’ll fly north to the Waterberg region of Limpopo Province, home to the Kaingo Private Game Reserve, a 16,400-hectare reserve forming part of the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve, declared by UNESCO in 2001. Here you’ll track the Big Five across grassy plains and savanna, alongside a wide range of recorded bird species. You’ll stay at Royal Morubisi Founders Lodge, a boutique lodge with suites set among the bushveld, where there’s plenty of time to relax between daily game drives.

On arrival in Cape Town, we'll transfer you to your hotel located in the heart of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. The day has been left free with time for you to settle in or venture out and explore the local surroundings.
This evening, get to know your fellow travellers at a pre-dinner welcome reception followed by dinner that brings Cape Malay heritage and culture to life. An interactive, multi-sensory dining experience in the Silo District of the V&A Waterfront including a high-energy djembe drumming session, and live Cape Jazz running throughout the meal.

Today’s panoramic tour covers many of the city's highlights, including Table Mountain. Weather permitting, we’ll take the cable car 1000m above the city for views across Cape Town and the coastline.
We’ll also visit Bo-Kaap, one of the most photographed areas in Cape Town, known for its brightly coloured homes, mosques and vibrant culture. We’ll pass The Castle of Good Hope, South Africa's oldest surviving colonial building, a star-shaped fort built in the 17th century. From there, we continue to Cape Town City Hall, with its mix of neoclassical and Edwardian architectural styles, and St. George's Cathedral known as the People's Cathedral, for its role in symbolising unity and social justice.
We will visit SEED, a Planeterra Foundation project that inspires, equips, and supports young people and communities to build better futures for themselves by cultivating sustainable initiatives, growing food, and contributing to the green economy. We’ll enjoy lunch at the SEED Kitchen, prepared with produce from their own garden.
The rest of the day is free to explore further or relax at the hotel.

Today we’ll venture to Stellenbosch, the Cape's second oldest town, surrounded by mountains and vineyards. At its heart is Dorp Street, its historic main road that began life as the original wagon route between Cape Town and Stellenbosch. The route carried wine, wheat and post by ox cart long before it carried tourists.
Take time to wander at your own pace, past Cape Dutch and Victorian buildings that now house coffee shops and bakeries offering freshly-baked pastries as well as art galleries and boutique stores. Look out for Oom Samie se Winkel, a vintage trading store that operates today as it always has, and the Stellenbosch Hotel, one of the street's oldest buildings.
Our tour continues to the Spice Route Destination in Paarl, home to a range of artisans selling a variety of local delicacies and homeware. We’ll take the time to savour a selection of wines that have been carefully paired with cured meats followed by a chocolate-tasting.

Your hotel sits at the heart of the V&A Waterfront, and today is yours to spend as you choose. Explore this vibrant area with its many sights, craft markets and a shopping centre. You’ll also find a wide selection of cafes, bars and restaurants by the water where you can unwind and watch as the fishing & tourist boats drift past.

We say goodbye to Cape Town today and travel on to the next stage of the journey, the safari.
On arrival in Johannesburg, you’ll be met by our local Travelsphere representative who will transfer you to Royal Morubisi Founders Lodge, located in the Kaingo Private Game Reserve. This is a 16,400-hectare Waterberg Biosphere and UNESCO site renowned for its diverse landscape. It is South Africa’s original savannah biosphere reserve and is home to many different types of wildlife.
You will be introduced to the friendly lodge team who will look after you throughout your stay. Enjoy a welcome drink with the group before we head off on the first game drive of the tour this afternoon. Later we’ll return to the lodge for dinner.

We rise early and enjoy tea, coffee and South African rusks on the lodge veranda before heading out on our first morning game drive. Knowledgeable and qualified guides will lead you through different areas of the reserve in search of the resident ‘Big Five, along with rarer species such as cheetah, tsessebe, brown hyena and pangolin. On each drive the guide will talk to you about the animals’ natural habitat, their behaviours, and their role in the eco-system. Royal Morubisi is one of the only lodges in the reserve so it’s unlikely you’ll see any other vehicle while tracking the wildlife. We’ll stop for morning coffee at one of the viewpoints before returning to the lodge for breakfast.
Take time to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Your lodge is situated close to the Mokolo River, meaning 'deep and silent” in the Tswana language. The river threads its way along a thirteen-kilometre route through the reserve and this afternoon we will board a sundowner boat cruise with an expert guide, watching for hippos, crocodiles and birdlife.

This morning we’ll take bush walk to focus on the often-missed smaller details such as animal tracks, signs and the chance to encounter the Big Five on foot. We finish this experience with an al fresco brunch served close to the river.
This afternoon is free to relax by the pool before an afternoon game drive. It offers another opportunity to take in more of the reserve’s wildlife and geology. We’ll find the perfect spot for a sundowner and watch the sun slowly set across the landscape.
We’ll make the most of the setting by serving dinner in the outdoor, lantern-lit boma with tables set up around the fire. For cooler nights, there’s also a cosy bar and lounge with an open fire inside the lodge. On one of the evenings during your stay, you’ll be treated to a performance of tribal dancing and an African drumming session.

We settle into a routine of sunrise and sunset game drives in this diverse reserve. Mornings might take you across the grassy plains and savannah, home to animals such as giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and impala. Evenings could bring elephant or lion sightings in the mountain bushveld.
During the day you can relax and enjoy the facilities at your lodge. Perhaps enjoy a treatment in the spa while listening to the sound of hippos in the distance or join one of the activities arranged with the friendly lodge staff such as birdwatching or fishing on the Mokolo River.
