United States - Touring Holidays

An escorted tour to the USA offers so many incredible experiences and the chance to see some of the world’s most famous landmarks. From vast deserts and dramatic canyons to thrilling cities and sun-drenched beaches, there’s a world of wonders in this remarkable destination.

New York attractions

Head east to visit big-name cities – New York City is perhaps the world’s most iconic. It’s familiar even if you’ve yet to visit, thanks to its stellar roles on both the small and big screens and its reputation as a global trendsetter. The Empire State Building, Times Square, Fifth Avenue, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty – the list of attractions is endless and days of exploration just fly by in this 24-hour location.

Historic Boston

The Capital of the United States, Washington DC, also rates highly when it comes to America’s must-see sites. The Smithsonian Institution, a collection of 19 world-class museums and a zoo, and the White House alone make it worth a visit. Then there’s Boston – this historic city was once a hotbed of revolutionary activity, with the Boston Tea Party becoming an iconic event in American history. Top-notch museums, some of the best seafood in the world and a thriving arts culture also add to Boston’s allure.

Laid-back New Orleans

More famous sights await way down in the Deep South, where states such as Tennessee and Louisiana play host to atmospheric cities with music in their soul. The blues originated in the Southern plantations of the 19th century, laid-back New Orleans is the birthplace of jazz and Nashville the capital of country music. Another great musical city is Memphis – here, in the Sun Studios, Elvis Presley recorded his first songs before making his journey to superstardom as the ‘King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’.

Immense Grand Canyon

When it comes to landscapes, a holiday in the USA also delivers on all levels. Surely the thundering Niagara Falls is on every travellers’ wish list, and the immense Grand Canyon is truly a wonder of nature that once seen is never forgotten. Other national parks are liberally scattered across the USA, the first ever being Yellowstone, famous for its hot springs and spouting geysers. And if you’re looking for the biggest, the tallest and the deepest in geological terms, Yosemite, Grand Teton, Mesa Verde and Bryce et al will not disappoint.

Glamorous California

If you think west is best you’ll want to head to California’s glamorous cities. Los Angeles, Palm Springs and Beverly Hills are an impressive trio with world-class shopping, movie star mansions and sun-kissed beaches all within reach. ‘City by the Bay’ San Francisco is home to the famous Golden Gate Bridge and a relaxed, cosmopolitan way of life, or experience life in the fast lane as you explore dazzling Las Vegas. This neon-lit playground surrounded by parched desert bills itself as the ‘Entertainment Capital of the World’. As you stroll its famous Strip taking in the incredible mega-casinos and lavish themed hotels you’ll probably agree.

The best of the West Coast USA

California is the Golden State - an apt moniker indeed. Historically, the name evokes the 1840s Gold Rush, when prospectors swept in to seek their fortunes and the region boomed. But it also conjures up the sun-kissed skin of its beach-loving residents, the glint of a Hollywood Oscar, the honeyed hue of its Chardonnays and San Francisco's iconic bridge.

Get out and about in America’s national parks

With America’s National Park Service celebrating its centenary in August 2016, this year is an exciting time to plan your visit to one or more of the nearly 60 scattered across the country.

Why visit San Francisco…

San Francisco is one of America’s most vibrant cities, so cramming in all its attractions is tricky. Here’s our guide to getting the most out of the city in a short space of time.
