A Postcard from the French Riviera - Megan's travel story

In June 2026, Megan and her partner joined our French Riviera tour. We caught up with Megan when she returned.

When my partner Liam and I booked Travelsphere's French Riviera tour, we knew we were in for beautiful scenery, glamorous destinations and plenty of sunshine. What we didn't expect was just how much we'd see and do during the week. By the time we returned home, we'd both agreed it was one of the best holidays we'd ever had.

We were based in Cannes throughout the tour, which turned out to be the perfect location. Our hotel was right on the main shopping street and only a short walk from the beach, making it easy to explore whenever we had free time. Cannes itself had everything I imagine when I think of the French Riviera, colourful buildings, charming streets, sandy beaches and a wonderful atmosphere.

One of the biggest surprises was how much was packed into the itinerary. Every day seemed to bring another incredible experience, and there was so much more included than I had expected. Even on the days when we had free time, we found ourselves filling every moment because there was always something to see, do or explore.

What I loved most about the Riviera was how beautiful everywhere felt. Whether we were wandering through the streets of Cannes, exploring Nice or taking in the views along the coastline, there was a real sense of elegance and charm.

Because breakfast was the only included meal, we had the freedom to choose where we wanted to eat each day. Our Holiday Director provided plenty of restaurant recommendations and every place we tried was fantastic. From traditional French dishes to seafood by the waterfront, discovering different restaurants became part of the experience.

Of all the places we visited, Monaco was undoubtedly my highlight.

We were incredibly lucky with our timing because the Monaco Grand Prix was taking place the following weekend, so we got to see preparations underway. Seeing the pit lane and race infrastructure being set up added an extra layer of excitement to the day.

What made Monaco stand out for me was the contrast between old and new. One minute I was wandering through beautiful historic streets and peaceful gardens, and the next I was looking at luxury yachts, supercars and the famous Monte Carlo Casino. It felt glamorous, but at the same time there were quiet corners where you could simply stop and appreciate the scenery.

I particularly loved the gardens. They offered a calm escape from the buzz of Monte Carlo and were some of the most relaxing places we visited during the entire trip.

Saint-Tropez was another destination that left a lasting impression. It felt slightly different to some of the Riviera's better-known hotspots, with a more relaxed and boutique feel. I loved browsing the independent shops and wandering through the streets.

One thing that really enhanced the holiday was our Holiday Director, Nicoleta. Nicoleta was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and approachable throughout the trip. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble, and Nicoleta always had recommendations for places to visit during our free time.

Nicoleta also helped create a fantastic atmosphere within the group. We had a real mix of ages and backgrounds, but everyone got along so well from the very beginning. The welcome gathering on the first evening was a great way to meet people, and by the end of the week it felt like we were travelling with friends.

What I appreciated most about this tour was the balance between organised sightseeing and independent exploration. We visited all the major highlights together, but there was also plenty of time to discover places for ourselves. That flexibility meant everyone could enjoy the Riviera in their own way.

Looking back, it's difficult to choose one standout moment because every day brought something different. Whether it was exploring Monaco, wandering through Saint-Tropez, enjoying dinner in Cannes or simply taking in the views along the coast, the entire week felt full of memorable experiences.

For anyone considering a visit to the French Riviera, my advice would be simple: make the most of every moment. Explore, wander, enjoy the food and embrace the experience. It's a destination that manages to exceed expectations, and one I'll never forget.
