Day 5 Jasper
Jasper National Park has been deemed by the World Heritage Committee to be among the most significant sights on earth. Today's the day that you get to explore for yourself and see what all the fuss is about! It is home to abundant wildlife, shimmering glaciers, crystal-clear lakes, thundering waterfalls and evergreen forests. And all this is surrounded by rugged snow-capped mountain peaks. We'll take all these wonderful sights in before you have the option to join a thrilling winter adventure on our optional excursion. In the company of a Local Guide the guided tour will take you deep into the heart of Maligne Valley, with scenic stops at breathtaking viewpoints like Medicine Lake. As you journey through areas of the park recently impacted by wildfires, the guide will share fascinating insights into the ecology of fire, the rebirth of the landscape, and its role in shaping the natural environment.
The highlight of the tour will be the opportunity to walk on ice at the bottom of one of Jasper’s deepest accessible canyons, located in an untouched an unimpacted part of the park. Surrounded by towering rock walls, the hidden Pleckaitis Canyon offers a serene and otherworldly setting. As you navigate this winding canyon, you’ll uncover the mysteries of its geology and learn about the rich history and ecology of the area.
