Croatia - An Island Hopper's Paradise

Discover some of Croatia and it’s most idyllic islands on our Croatia holidays. We include a host of meals and sightseeing tours, but we’ve also left plenty of free time so you can go your own way.

CRES

A hilly island with a wonderful array of beautiful pebbly beaches and hidden bays, Cres is perhaps one of Croatia’s best-kept secrets. If you head to the rocky shores of the northern and eastern part of the island, look out for a colony of endangered griffon vultures, often spotted gliding overhead.

ELAFITI ISLANDS

This archipelago of six small islands lies close to Dubrovnik, offering a great option for a day out. The three main islands to visit are Kolocep, Lopud and Sipan, which between them are home to fewer than 1,000 people. There are plenty of gorgeous views though, from Sipan’s Renaissance villas to the hilltop Franciscan monastery of Lopud. Discover the Elafiti Islands on our Dubrovnik and the Highlights of Montenegro tour.

KORCULA

Separated from the mainland by a narrow strait and reputedly the birthplace of the adventurer Marco Polo, Korcula is the busiest of the Croatian islands. Fascinating medieval architecture – including St Mark’s Cathedral and the ancient defensive walls – have earned Korcula Old Town the nickname ‘Little Dubrovnik’. Discover Korcula on our Croatian Island Hopping and Croatia Uncovered by Land and Sea tours.

MLJET

Blissfully unspoiled and Croatia’s greenest island, Mljet is covered by forest, with its western half declared a national park and home to two saltwater lakes. The remainder of the island is dotted by fields, olive groves and vineyards.

HVAR

As you sail to Hvar – said to be the sunniest and the most luxurious of Croatia’s islands – prepare for stunning views. Take in vast fields of lavender and ancient olive trees, and step ashore in its main town, also called Hvar, to admire a harbour filled with sleek yachts.

BRAC ISLAND

You’ll find a laid-back atmosphere and a forested landscape dotted with tiny stone-built houses on Brac Island. It’s also home to the highest peak of the Adriatic islands, Vidova Gora, and the famous Zlatni Rat beach, which juts out into the sea.
