Itinerary

Depart on your flight to Naples, transferring on arrival to your hotel in Minori. Dubbed the ‘City of Taste’, hand-made pasta, limoncello liqueur, cakes and pastries are among its gastronomic specialities. During your stay you’ll be treated to cooking demonstrations from the chef.

Join today’s included walking tour of Minori. Once a retreat for aristocratic Romans, the Villa Marittima Romana is its outstanding attraction. You’ll also visit a limoncello distillery.

Today’s included excursion takes you first to Amalfi, a picturesque town dominated by a marble Romanesque cathedral said to hold the remains of St Andrew. Continue to the cliff-top town of Ravello, and make a stop in Tramonti to visit a vineyard and cellar for a tasting of wine and local produce.

Spend today at leisure or join our optional excursion to Sorrento. Here you’ll visit an orange grove and enjoy a walking tour of the resort’s historical centre.

This afternoon join your Tour Manager to experience the Luci d’Artista event in Salerno, when every corner of this medieval town is illuminated by spectacular works of art.

Why not join today’s optional excursion to historic Paestum, visiting a buffalo mozzarella farm en route. Discover Paestum’s 2,500-year-old Doric temples on a guided tour.

This morning we offer an optional excursion to Pompeii, smothered in hot ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD. Villas decorated with mosaics, Roman baths and an impressive amphitheatre are among its best sights.

After breakfast we head to Naples for an included coach tour. After free time for lunch an afternoon walking tour takes in all the main sights of the historical city centre, with Via San Gregorio Armeno, the famous street which is home to the Neapolitan nativity scene makers, the highlight.

Later this afternoon you’ll transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK.

Please note: Some bars and restaurants may not be open during the winter season.

Optional Excursions

Experience even more of your destination by adding one or more optional excursions to your holiday before you set off. Right now is the perfect opportunity to do that – with everything booked and paid for you’ll have even more to get excited about and all you’ll need to think about while you’re away is having a great time.

By the way - look out for ‘Optional Excursion Packages’. For some holidays we’ve grouped a selection of excursions into a package which means you can make a saving when you book in advance.

Prices shown may vary according to departure date and are subject to change.  The full range of excursions will be detailed in your holiday information pack, sent approximately 15 weeks prior to departure.

On arrival in Sorrento we have included a visit to an orange grove where you will have the chance to taste some of the products. Your time is then free in this lovely vibrant town which has plenty to see and do. There’s a good selection of shops, pavement cafes and pizzerias, see the 11th century Basilica di Sant’Antonino (the oldest church in town, named after the Patron Saint who is said to have performed numerous miracles), the 15th century cathedral with its striking exterior fresco, the Villa Comunale Park with its lushly landscaped gardens and next door the Church of San Francesco (one of Sorrento’s best), where world-class performers from classical school perform a summer programme of concerts. There’s also the historic building Sedile Dominava (a 15th century domed Palazzo, originally a meeting point for the town’s mediaeval aristocracy) and the Il Vallone dei Mulino (a stunning natural phenomenon - this deep cleft in the mountain dates from a volcanic eruption some 35,000 years ago and can be seen from behind the town’s main square Piazzo Tasso). Maybe take the public “noddy” train for a tour around the town (payable locally).

In the company of a knowledgeable Local Guide you’ll tour the famous Roman town that was frozen in time when the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD buried the entire area in a thick layer of hot ash. You’ll be amazed by the sheer size of the ruins as you walk down the ancient streets and peer into villas still decorated with frescoes and mosaics. You’ll see bakeries with bread ovens and flour grinders still intact and an impressive amphitheatre where you’ll almost feel you can hear the roar of the cheering crowds as your guide brings this doomed town back to life.

Customer Quotes

Below are a selection of customer quotes taken directly from the customer questionnaires:

Our reason for choosing this tour was a 50th birthday whilst away. We had a fantastic time our tour manager was Aideen she was a fabulous person who was very kind, caring and had a wonderful sense of humor. in our opinion she has been the best we have ever had. she knew everyones name and she always make a point of checking everyone was OK individually.

Winter on the Amalfi Coast - 2016
This was my first Travelsphere tour trip. I have recommended the company to friends already. I'll be travelling with Travelsphere again in June and hope to book a trip in November, especially as the lovely Aideen is going to be the tour manager! I was really impressed by how Aideen made sure the solo travelers (me and 2 other ladies) met each other straight away. she was great fun, and very efficient.
