Today you’ll depart on your scheduled flight to San Francisco. On arrival, you’ll transfer to your hotel for a two-night stay in this exciting, cosmopolitan city.
This morning’s included San Francisco tour includes laid-back Fisherman’s Wharf, the sharp hairpin turns of Lombard Street and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. In the afternoon you can take an optional cruise around San Francisco Bay or a thrilling helicopter ride, and this evening, you can view San Francisco by night on an optional tour. End your first day in style with an included evening champagne reception overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay.
Leaving the hills of San Francisco behind, you will drive across the Golden Gate Bridge and journey northwards into California’s scenic wine country and on to Eureka, a Victorian seaport which sits on Humboldt Bay. On arrival, you’ll enjoy an included wine and beer reception at your hotel.
Your journey northwards through California brings you to the astounding Redwood National Park, which you will visit today. The coast redwood is the tallest known plant species in the world, soaring to over 350ft tall, and lives for an average of 600 years. Stop at a local winery for some wine tasting before continuing across the state line into Oregon for a two-night stay in vibrant Grant’s Pass.
This morning you will visit one of the highlights of the tour, Crater Lake, renowned for its purity and deep-blue colour. The area’s violent volcanic past has given way to a tranquil, picturesque location with sheer cliffs guarding the lake and its pretty islands. Here you will have the opportunity to try some of the locally-produced Crater Lake vodka whilst taking in the stunning scenery. Return back to Grant’s Pass later this afternoon.
Today we travel to Newport, on the Oregon coast, which is a popular destination for lovers of seafood having earned itself the title of ‘Dungeness Crab Capital of the World’. Here you’ll enjoy a crabbing demonstration, followed by a guided walk along fisherman’s memorial walk and a delicious crab cocktail. On arrival at your hotel, you’ll be welcomed with a complimentary glass of wine or beer. This evening we include a visit to the beach to enjoy the Californian tradition of roasting marshmallows over an open fire (weather/season permitting).
Your tour continues today as you head to Portland, stopping en route at the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse. Built in 1871, it is the only wooden Oregon lighthouse standing and believed to be the oldest structure in Newport. After a scenic drive you’ll arrive in Portland, your base for the next two nights.
Portland’s beautiful gardens have given rise to its nickname, the ‘City of Roses’. There are also plenty of microbreweries in the city for anyone who enjoys a beer. Today, you can spend your time exploring the city at your leisure, or join our optional excursion to view the snow-covered peak of Mount Hood, Oregon’s highest mountain, and the Columbia River Gorge.
Today you reach Washington State, stopping en route to view the stately and active Mount St Helens volcano, which at 40,000 years old, is relatively young. You’ll arrive in Seattle after a stop at the famous Pikes Place Market en route. You will spend the next two nights in Seattle.
Enjoy a day at leisure. Why not explore more of the city at your own pace or sample a coffee at the original branch of Starbucks.
Today you make your way into Canada and on to Vancouver. Surrounded by mountains and forest, Vancouver has one of the most beautiful settings of anywhere in the world. Enjoy an included sightseeing tour on arrival.
Today you can make your own discoveries in Vancouver, or join our optional excursion to Vancouver’s North shore. Attractions here include the spectacular Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain - why not take the Cable Car to the top for breathtaking views.
Enjoy your final morning at leisure in Vancouver before transferring to the airport for your overnight flight back to the UK.
Arrive in the UK.
