Itinerary

Today you’ll depart on your scheduled flight to Calgary. On arrival you’ll transfer to the resort town of Banff - a spectacular journey through the snow-capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains. The evening is free for you to spend relaxing at your hotel, where you’ll stay for
three nights.

This morning we include a sightseeing tour of Banff National Park, an incredible wilderness nestled in the heart of the Rockies where snowy alpine scenery, glistening glaciers and ice-covered lakes demand your attention. In the vast swathes of pine forest, look out for wolves, elk and deer. Our tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site will take in the Hoodoos of Bow Valley, imposing spires of rock carved by wind and water which stand guard over the Bow River. We will also visit Surprise Corner, so named because as you drive out of Banff, the view suddenly opens into a fantastic mountain vista, featuring the famous Banff Springs Hotel on your right. The rest of the day is yours to spend at leisure. Perhaps take advantage of your hotel's facilities or explore more of beautiful Banff – browse the souvenir shops and peruse menus at the restaurants and bars just a short walk from your hotel. Expect a warm welcome, and possibly a roaring fire to cosy up in front of.

Enjoy this scenic winter wonderland as you sit back and relax on today’s included horse-drawn sleigh ride. You’ll be treated to magnificent views during a leisurely glide through the snow as you listen to the jingle of sleigh bells on this unforgettable journey.

Later, spend free time exploring Banff or you can
warm up - and soak up some history - during our included visit to Banff’s natural hot springs. They’re located in an historic spa and bathhouse but with modern amenities. Relax in the soothing hot waters of a mountain spring, with views of snow-covered peaks in every direction, just as locals and travellers have done for more than a century.

More stunning scenery awaits today as we travel to Jasper for a two-night stay. En route we take the Lake Louise Gondola (weather permitting) for unrivalled panoramic views. This former railroad town filled with buildings that will take you back in time is now the focal point of a breathtakingly beautiful national park. It has been described as a Christmas card come to life for winter visitors who wander amid snowtopped evergreens and hear the sound of crunching snow underfoot. The evening is free for you to enjoy at leisure – perhaps spend it enjoying your hotel's many facilities or by the fireside in one of Jasper's restaurants or bars.

Today we venture out into Jasper National Park for sightseeing in an area of pristine wilderness, deemed by the World Heritage Committee to be among the most significant sights on earth. Home to abundant wildlife, its shimmering glaciers, crystal-clear lakes, thundering waterfalls and evergreen forest are surrounded by rugged mountain peaks.

We also include a wonderful winter adventure – a Maligne Canyon Icewalk. In the company of a guide you will head to the bottom of the deep canyon where you will see frozen waterfalls, ice caves and incredible ice formations. You will also learn about the spectacular Maligne Valley, its distinctive landscape and the mystery of the ‘disappearing’ Medicine Lake, which changes seasonally as the flow rates of melt waters fill and empty the basin.

The evening is free for you to spend at leisure.

Today we travel to picture-perfect Lake Louise, thought by many to be one of the most beautiful places in Canada, for our two-night stay. This afternoon we will learn all about the history of this glacial, jade-green lake high in the mountains surrounded by towering peaks on all sides. We will also hear about our hotel, the stunning Fairmont Chateau situated on the lake. Built more than 100 years ago as a base for outdoor enthusiasts and alpinists, it has played a part in the colourful history of the Rockies. We will then settle down outside by a firepit in a cosy corner for an included welcome drink.

Today we have free time to enjoy the excellent facilities at the chateau and its glorious surroundings. Or why not join our amazing optional excursion – snowshoeing on Lake Louise. This ancient and efficient mode of transport simply involves wearing specially designed snowshoes which distribute your weight over a larger area, so you can walk on snow without sinking into it. This winter activity offers another exciting way of exploring this beautiful area. We have left this evening free for you to spend at leisure.

Today you’ll enjoy a brief tour of Calgary before transferring to the airport for your flight home.

You’ll arrive in the UK today.
