Itinerary

Depart on your scheduled flight to Lima, Peru’s capital.

Arrive in Lima for an overnight stay.

Today you will enjoy an included tour of Lima. Much of the city’s colonial influence can still be seen today – and in the main square you’ll find the Presidential Palace, the cathedral and the Metropolitan City Hall. A lot of the architecture here remains unchanged since the 17th century, while the influence of the Incas and native Indians is also very much in evidence.

Fly to Cuzco this afternoon.

Today we include a morning tour of Cuzco, the ‘Imperial City’, once capital of the Inca Empire and now a fascinating combination of ancient and colonial architecture. You’ll also visit the Inka’s Expression Workshop to watch local artisans at work.

Today you’ll visit the ‘Lost City’ of Machu Picchu, which was rediscovered in 1911. Perched inaccessibly above a steep valley swathed in jungle, you will travel to the ruined city by narrow gauge railway, and the last part of the journey will be by bus. A guided walk of Machu Picchu is included, with time to discover the fascinating citadel at your own pace.

After an included lunch in Aguas Calientes, the small town in the valley beneath Machu Picchu, you’ll travel by train to the Sacred Valley and stay here overnight.

Nestled in what is known as the Sacred Valley is the small town of Pisac. You’ll experience the vibrant Indian market here, before travelling back to Cuzco for an overnight stay.

Early this morning you’ll journey towards the town of Puno. En route we’ll stop at La Raya pass, a great spot for viewing the snow-capped Andes. We’ll also make a stop at the Raqchi ruins before arriving at Puno later in the day.

Today begins with a hydrofoil cruise on Lake Titicaca. You’ll sail to Moon Island and then head across the water to Sun Island, where you’ll enjoy lunch.

In the afternoon your adventure continues towards the community of Huatajata. Here you’ll meet the Limachi family before visiting the Andean Roots Eco-Village to see how local people make totora reed fishing boats.

From here enjoy an overland trip to La Paz, travelling a road that runs parallel to the snow capped peaks of the Andes.

Today we head to the intriguing city of La Paz, which sits high above sea level and is beautifully framed by the majestic three-peaked Illimani Mountain. Hidden treasures lurk around every street corner and on our full-day tour you’ll discover gems including the Indian Market and the fascinating Witch Doctor’s Market, which will thrill you and unnerve you in equal measure as you browse stalls selling charms and potions promising to ward off evil spirits. Other highlights are visits to Moon Valley, a lunar landscape of canyons and spires, and a cable car ride from one end of the city to the other. You’ll spend the night in La Paz.

Fly from La Paz to Buenos Aires today, arriving mid-afternoon. Relax and enjoy the facilities at your hotel.

Today a city tour of Buenos Aires includes visits to Plaza de Mayo, where the Casa Rosada (Government House) and Cathedral of Buenos Aires are situated. You’ll also visit the La Boca District, renowned for its brightly painted houses, and now an artists’ colony. A visit will also be made to the Recoleta cemetery, the burial place of Eva Peron. There will be the opportunity to enjoy a traditional dinner and tango show this evening.

Explore Buenos Aires at your own pace today. Alternatively, why not join one of the optional excursions that will be available.

Today you’ll fly to Iguaçú.

Today you are free to explore the area at leisure. Alternatively, you may choose to join the optional full-day excursion to the Argentinian side of Iguaçú Falls. Situated at the meeting point of three countries - Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina - the falls are one of the world’s largest natural wonders.

Today you’ll be able to admire the Brazilian side of the Iguaçú Falls on our included excursion. From this side, it is possible to walk across the famous platform virtually into the Devil’s Throat, the best-known of the individual falls. Early this afternoon, you’ll transfer to the airport for your flight to Rio de Janeiro.

This morning we include a visit to Corcovado, home to the famous statue of Christ the Redeemer. You’ll reach the statue by a small cog railway which winds up the mountain and offers superb views over Rio and Sugarloaf Mountain.

This afternoon you have the option to ascend Sugarloaf Mountain by cable car.

Enjoy a day at leisure before transferring to the airport for your return flight to the UK this evening.

You’ll arrive in the UK today.

Please note: During this tour you will travel to altitudes of over 12,000ft where altitude sickness can occur. This should not be a problem, although everyone should take it easy at first. Our tour has been designed to allow a more gradual increase in altitude, giving you more time to adjust to the lower oxygen levels. Other simple measures, such as eating light meals and drinking lots of fluids can also help to alleviate the symptoms. If you suffer from heart or respiratory conditions or have any other concerns please consult your doctor.

Optional Excursions

Experience even more of your destination by adding one or more optional excursions to your holiday before you set off. Right now is the perfect opportunity to do that – with everything booked and paid for you’ll have even more to get excited about and all you’ll need to think about while you’re away is having a great time.

By the way - look out for ‘Optional Excursion Packages’. For some holidays we’ve grouped a selection of excursions into a package which means you can make a saving when you book in advance.

Prices shown may vary according to departure date and are subject to change.  The full range of excursions will be detailed in your holiday information pack, sent approximately 15 weeks prior to departure.
