Your Itinerary

Day 1 UK/Perth

Today you will depart on your scheduled flight to Australia.

Days 2 & 3 Perth

On arrival in the beautiful city of Perth early on day 3, we'll transfer you to your hotel. You'll have plenty of time to explore this beautiful city, and a half-day tour of this exciting, cosmopolitan city will get you started. Among your discoveries will be clean, uncrowded beaches and lush green parks all set against a stunning backdrop of modern skyscrapers.

Day 4 Perth

Perth has so much to offer and you can get out and about to discover its delights just as you wish today. It's one of the world's most envied locations in which to live, with lush parks, excellent restaurants, the stunning Swan River and a lovely warm climate.
As an alternative, you might choose to join an optional tour of the lively port city of Fremantle, which you'll reach via a cruise on the Swan River. During free time, coffee-lovers should head to Cappuccino Strip, lined with open-air coffee shops, pubs and restaurants. Other highlights include the fishing boat harbour, a host of interesting museums and the historic Fremantle markets - more than 150 stalls selling everything from local delicacies to jewellery. We'll head back to the hotel by road.

Day 5 Alice Springs

Today we fly to Alice Springs, set amid a vast area of natural springs and red desert.
This evening you might be tempted to join an optional bush barbecue experience - a great welcome to the area which give you a true taste of the Australian Outback. You'll tuck into steak, sausages and salad and perhaps enjoy a cold beer or two. What's more, the evening comes complete with the chance to spot kangaroos, enjoy star-gazing, and try your hand at boomerang-throwing!

Day 6 Alice Springs

The famous Flying Doctor Base, the old Telegraph Station and the School of the Air, which educates children over the wireless, are highlights of today's tour.
Later, if you want to see more and get out in the great outdoors, an optional excursion into the spectacular West MacDonnell Mountain Range comes highly recommended.
First you'll visit Simpsons Gap, a stunning gorge where water flows through a small gap in the mountains. This area is sacred to the Aboriginal people, as is our next stop, the Standley Chasm. Here, you can take a stroll amongst sheer walls of red rock, which are simply breathtaking, and if the light is right you'll be treated to a magnificent display of colours and shapes.

Day 7 Uluru

You're going on a fabulous journey today, through the heart of Australia to Uluru, or Ayers Rock. En route we're going to stop off at a camel farm, and there's even the opportunity to take a camel ride if you like.
The gigantic sandstone monolith Uluru is located in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. It is two miles long, 1,000ft high and measures six miles around the base. One of the most impressive landmarks in Australia, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a sacred place in Aboriginal culture and features many caves and ancient rock paintings. It's an incredible sight at any time of the day, but at sunrise and sunset it changes colour dramatically with the light. Your visit here today is at sunset.

Day 8 Uluru & Cairns

Viewing Uluru at sunrise is a wonderful experience too, and that's how you start your day. As well as this spectacular sight, you'll tour the base to see its caves.
After this we'll head to the mysterious Kata Tjuta, although you may know these 36 domed rock formations better as the Olgas. Located to the west of Uluru, they are thought to have similarly been one huge piece of rock but over millions of years they have been shaped this way by nature.
Later we fly to Cairns, a lively resort on the spectacular Great Barrier Reef, which will be our base for four nights.

Day 9 Cairns

Today you're going to admire the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef on an exciting catamaran trip. Described as the world's largest living thing, this is a 1,400-mile wonderland of beautiful coral and colourful marine life, studded with unspoilt tropical islands. You can put on a snorkel and take to the water to marvel at the amazing world that stretches beneath you on today's adventure. Lunch on board the reef platform is also included, then you can visit an underwater observatory or take a cruise in a semi-submersible. Of course, if you like, you can simply spend your time here relaxing on the sundeck with a drink and taking in the stunning views.

Day 10 Cairns

Cairns enjoys an idyllic location, sandwiched between the ocean and tropical forests, so it's a wonderful place to relax for a couple of days.
If you're after adventure or want to explore in depth, there are plenty of optional excursions available too. The most popular is a ride on the Kuranda Railway, widely regarded as one of the world's most spectacular rail journeys. The track burrows through 15 tunnels and traverses 40 bridges as it clings to the rockface along a narrow coastal strip.

Day 11 Cairns

You can spend today doing just as you wish. If you want to get out in the great outdoors, why not come with us on an optional trip to Daintree Rainforest. On arrival at Port Douglas, we'll head to Four Mile Beach, which unfolds in a gentle curve offering spectacular views as far as the eye can see. You'll also see the historic St Mary's by the Sea, a picturesque church offering breathtaking sea views.
Daintree is an ecologically unique tropical forest home to an extensive range of flora and fauna, and next you'll head off on an environmental wilderness cruise with an expert guide in search of crocodiles. Lunch at the Daintree Village Hotel and a tour of Daintree are also included on this excursion.

Day 12 Sydney

We're going to fly to Australia's biggest city, Sydney, today, where a four-night stay means you'll have ample time to discover plenty of its highlights. The most famous landmarks here have to be Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, which dominate the picturesque harbour. You'll see these and all the other main sights on tomorrow's tour so spend the rest of the day relaxing after your flight.

Day 13 Sydney

You'll see on your tour today that Sydney's centre is surprisingly compact. As we explore together you can tick off the gorgeous white sands of Bondi Beach and Hyde Park, home to numerous monuments including the ANZAC Memorial. We'll also head to Darling Harbour, which hosts a dazzling array of attractions from bars and bistros to an aquarium and a zoo, and Mrs Macquarie's Chair. This huge sandstone rock was hand-carved by convicts into the shape of a bench for Governor Macquarie's wife, Elizabeth in 1810. Why not sit for a while and take in the views from this wonderful vantage point.
The time is then yours to spend as you please, when you may decide to discover Sydney Harbour from the water. This hour-long optional cruise will introduce all the sights, from beautiful gardens and parkland to the iconic Sydney Opera House as you sail around one of the world's most stunning harbours.
Another option is to step beneath the sails and enjoy a guided tour of the Sydney Opera House. You'll learn about the history of the building, uncover stories about artists and the shows performed here and have an opportunity to visit areas usually off limits to the general public.

Day 14 Sydney

Enjoy a day at leisure exploring Sydney your own way. However, if you want to join an organised trip, come with us on a thrilling optional excursion. You'll start at Featherdale Wildlife Park, which is home to more than 300 species of native animals, from koalas to Tasmanian devils.
You'll then head through the Blue Mountains, past the Three Sisters rock formation and along Jamieson Valley - Australia's answer to the Grand Canyon. Finally, you'll visit Scenic World, where you can opt to take a journey on the world's steepest incline railway into ancient rainforest or enjoy a cable-car ride over the valley.

Day 15 Sydney

You can choose from a couple of exciting optional excursions today. If you've a head for heights, you could take in exceptional views of Sydney Harbour and the surrounding area on a guided Sydney Harbour Bridge climb. Don't worry, you'll get a safety briefing beforehand and will wear a harness at all times. At the end you'll receive a group photo, a cap, certificate and a pass to the Pylon Lookout for further sweeping views.
Alternatively, you may choose to view Sydney from even higher up, on a panoramic helicopter ride. Remember to take your camera along and snap shots of Bondi Beach, Botany Bay, Sydney Harbour and Opera House, and much more, as you listen to your pilot's informative commentary through headphones. Another unforgettable option is a twilight dinner cruise aboard an authentic timber tall ship complete with billowing sails.

Day 16 Melbourne

Melbourne is our final destination, and your tour today will help you to get your bearings. Highlights include Federation Square, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Flinders Street Station and the Grand Prix Circuit that circles Albert Park Lake. Another stop is Fitzroy Gardens, with highlights including pathways lined with towering elms, colourful floral displays and the Fairies' Tree sculpture - a centuries-old tree stump featuring delightful carvings. You'll also catch a glimpse of Captain Cook's cottage here. Originally built in Yorkshire in 1755 by the parents of Captain James Cook, the cottage was brought to Melbourne brick by brick in 1934 and rebuilt.

Day 17 Melbourne

You can now set your own pace as you explore Melbourne just as you wish. One possibility which comes highly recommended is an optional visit to Phillip Island to see the remarkable penguin parade. At sunset, after a hard day's fishing, hundreds of these delightful creatures - the world's smallest penguin - appear from out of the ocean and waddle their way across the beach to their sand dune burrows. You can take in this marvellous spectacle from special viewing stands and boardwalks, which give you the chance to get up close to nature.

Day 18 Melbourne

Today is free for you to explore more of Melbourne, perhaps Australia's coolest city, at your own pace. You could enjoy a spot of shopping in one of its many colourful markets, or browse the art galleries here. Maybe treat yourself to a lunch of fresh seafood, take in fabulous views from a rooftop bar or discover the city's hidden laneways, where getting lost is all part of the fun.
Alternatively, why not take an optional trip to Ballarat, famous for the Gold Rush of 1851. You'll also visit Sovereign Hill open-air museum, which recreates the first decade after the discovery of gold here, and take a tour of the gold mines. There will be time for a stroll around the town and to visit the Gold Museum.
