Zika Virus

Travelsphere is committed to the safety and health of our customers.

We have been closely monitoring the Zika virus situation and are aware that Public Health England have upgraded their health protection guidance for people travelling to where the Zika virus transmission is ongoing. This follows similar advice issued by the US Centres for Disease Control & prevention (CDC).

The Zika virus is transmitted by mosquitoes, and symptoms include fever, headache, red eyes, rash and joint pains.

The illness is usually mild and lasts between 2-7 days. However, the alert specifically references women who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant.

This notice, currently, affects holidays to certain Caribbean, Central American and South American countries.

Travellers are reminded to take general precautions against biting insects by covering exposed skin and using insect repellent.
