Grilled Smoked Mozzarella with Lemon Leaves

Ingredients

250 grams fresh smoked mozzarella (if possible buffalo milk)

8 untreated lemon leaves

1 Amalfi Lemon

Crusty bread and extra virgin Olive oil


Creating your masterpiece

Place the mozzarella in the refrigerator overnight, so that it is cold and firm, then cut into 1 inch pieces - about the same size of the leaves.

Make lemon leaf sandwiches with the mozzarella and the leaves

Heat a frying pan until smoking hot. Gently place the lemon leaf sandwiches on the pan, letting the leaves blister and after a minute or two flip them over and blister the other side.

Carefully remove from the pan, place on oven proof serving dish and finish under a hot grill for about 3 minutes so that the cheese is beautifully melted and oozing out!

Serve with crusty bread. Don’t eat the leaves - peel them off the cheese, drizzle over some oil, squeeze over the lemon juice and eat!
