Travelsphere Makes a Difference in Burma

Travelsphere, a pioneering UK escorted tour operator, recently made a huge difference to a family’s future in Burma. It donated a fishing boat and nets through its Travelsphere Cares initiative.

Throughout 2015, Travelsphere made a donation to a fund for each booking it received on its 12-day Golden Burma holiday.

“Our local agent in Burma met with the village elders of Kay Le Village on Inle Lake and asked who should receive the fishing boat that Travelsphere had purchased. We wanted to ensure that the boat and fishing nets would really make a difference. It was a unanimous decision to give the boat to the family of U Sein Pei,” said Tracey McKinnon, Travelsphere’s Group Operations Director.

U Sein Pei’s wife passed away two years ago and he has two young children, so thanks to the fishing boat and nets he can now provide for his family.

“It is so rewarding that we have been able to make a difference to a whole family through our Travelsphere Cares initiative. I would like to thank all the customers who have helped in this success by travelling to Burma and experiencing this wonderful country for themselves.” added Tracey.

Travelsphere customers on a recent Golden Burma holiday enjoyed a change to their tour itinerary when they were invited to the home of U Sein Pei.

U Sein Pei welcomed the Travelsphere customers to his house where they were served with local tea, rice crackers and tea leaf salad, before being given a tour of the new fishing boat to see first-hand what a difference they had made.

Travelsphere Cares is an initiative which means as a company Travelsphere is able to give something back to those communities who are so welcoming to all of the guests that travel with us.

Every Travelsphere holiday offers exceptional value for money. Included in the price are return scheduled flights/rail travel and internal flights, where applicable, overseas transfers and transportation, carefully chosen hotels, many meals and excursions and the services of a Travelsphere Tour Manager or Local Guide.
