Argentina - Touring Holidays
If your escorted tour takes you to Argentina, you’ll discover an amazing country packed full of diverse landscapes and fascinating sights. From the metropolis of Buenos Aires to the snow-capped peaks of the Andes, Argentina promises excitement and adventure. It’s a nation with an infectious passion for life and as a visitor to this magnificent land you’re sure to bring back long-lasting memories of fine wines, enormous steaks and incredible natural landscapes.
Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires is perhaps one of the most vibrant cities in the world and is sometimes described as the 'Paris of South America', thanks to its cosmopolitan and European vibe. Yet despite its many international influences, Buenos Aires is a city proud of its Argentinian heritage. A visit to the famous Plaza de Mayo should be at the top of your list. Here you’ll find some of the city’s most fascinating buildings, including Casa Rosada, the iconic government house. With its striking pink façade, this building has played host to some of the most significant events in Argentina’s history. It was from a balcony here that the country’s legendary First Lady, Eva Perón, famously spoke to the crowds gathered below. You can see her final resting place at the city’s intriguing Recoleta Cemetery and also discover the many other elaborate family tombs to be found here.
Natural wonders – Iguaҫú Falls
No visit to Argentina would be complete without a visit to the breathtaking Iguaҫú Falls.
Separating Argentina and Brazil, the falls feature 275 cascades and spread for about two miles in length. They are a natural wonder to rival any on the planet, and the surrounding National Park is home to an array of wildlife and birds. A small train takes you through the park to view the mighty falls.
Mendoza – the wine capital of Argentina
Located at the foot of the Andes, Mendoza is one of Argentina’s most agreeable cites. It is the wine capital of Argentina, producing more than 70% of the country’s wines. Top quality Malbecs are the star of the show, but the region is also known for its Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir reds and Torrontés, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc whites. The first vineyards were established here in the 16th century and today, you’ll find small garagistas, garage winemakers, operating alongside renowned producers. Be sure to enjoy a vineyard visit and tasting during your time in the region.
