Day 1
Depart on your scheduled flight to Australia.
Day 2
Owing to the considerable time difference between the UK and Cairns, Day 2 will be spent in flight.
Day 3
Morning arrival in the Northern Queensland city of Cairns, a lively seaside resort situated on the Great Barrier Reef. Accommodation for four nights.
Day 4
The Great Barrier Reef has been described as the world’s largest living thing and the eighth wonder of the world. It is a stupendous 1,400 mile wonderland of breathtakingly beautiful coral and colourful marine life, studded with unspoilt tropical islands. Today we offer a full day excursion by catamaran to Frankland Island on the Great Barrier Reef with lunch included. A truly unforgettable experience!
Days 5 & 6
Cairns enjoys an idyllic location, sandwiched between deep blue ocean and lush green tropical forests. It is the perfect retreat in which to spend time relaxing in the sunshine! Optional excursions include a visit to the Atherton Tablelands, featuring a ride on the Kuranda Railway, which is widely regarded as one of the world’s most spectacular rail journeys. The track burrows through 15 tunnels and traverses 40 bridges as it clings to the rock face along a narrow coastal strip.
Day 7
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Ayers Rock, situated in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Upon arrival transfer to your nearby hotel for a two night stay. During the afternoon an excursion will be made to the mysterious Olgas, a nearby range of 28 spectacular rock domes.
Ayers Rock is one of the world’s most remarkable sights. This gigantic sandstone monolith is also a cherished Aboriginal shrine, and remains the property of the Anangu tribe of the Northern Territory. This evening we are at Ayers Rock for sunset.
Day 8
Visit Ayers Rock for sunrise, and a chance for the more energetic to climb to the top! There will also be a tour of the base to see the caves and Aboriginal rock paintings.
The rest of the day is free, with optional excursions available. Take an unforgettable scenic flight over Ayers Rock, offering you amazing views of this unique and haunting landmark. You can also join a guided tour to the Valley of the Winds. This fascinating excursion in the company of a local guide will show you the remarkable rock formations of the valley, and also features a sunset barbecue.
Day 9
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Sydney. On arrival transfer to your hotel for a five night stay.
Day 10
Sydney is Australia’s biggest and most exciting city. The centre is surprisingly compact and can be explored easily on foot. The world-famous Harbour Bridge and Opera House dominate the picturesque harbour. Our holiday price includes a half day sightseeing tour. This includes Bondi Beach, Hyde Park, Darling Harbour and Mrs Macquarie’s Chair.
Days 11 to 13
Free to enjoy the exciting atmosphere and sheer beauty of Australia’s premier city. Optional excursions will include a drive to the Blue Mountains and Wildlife Park to see the koalas, possums, wombats and kangaroos, which you may well have already seen in the wild whilst in the outback. You can also enjoy a harbour cruise, visit the landscaped capital city of Canberra and tour Sydney by night.
Day 14
Transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK.
Day 15
Arrival in the UK.
