Accommodation

You will stay at a hotel such as the Airtel Plaza in Los Angeles, the La Cuesta Inn in San Luis Obispo and the Radisson Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco.

Hotel facilities include a pool and restaurant* and most have a bar. All rooms feature TV, telephone, coff ee maker and private facilities. (* There is no restaurant at La Cuesta Inn)

Itinerary

DAY 1: UK/Los Angeles
Depart on your scheduled flight to Los Angeles. On arrival transfer to your hotel for a two night stay.

DAY 2: Los Angeles
LA is one of America’s most exciting cities and we include a morning city tour, featuring the Hollywood Bowl, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Sunset Strip and the Farmers’ Market. Optional afternoon visit to Universal Studios.

DAY 3: San Luis Obispo
Today is the first day of your spectacular two day drive up the magnificent Pacific Coastline. You follow Highway 1 through Malibu and Santa Barbara to San Luis Obispo for an overnight stay.

DAY 4: El Camino Real
Continue on your journey northwards along the El Camino Real, or California Mission Trail, to Carmel - the town that Clint Eastwood was mayor of in the 1980s. Head through Monterey and along the 17 Mile Drive, famous for its spectacular seascapes. Your drive along the Pacific Coastline ends in San Francisco for a three night stay.

DAY 5: San Francisco
With its instantly recognisable landmarks, such as the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco is an iconic city. We include a morning sightseeing tour of the city, where you will cross the famous bridge and also visit Twin Peaks, the Golden Gate Park, the Civic Centre, Chinatown and Fisherman’s Wharf.

The rest of your time is at leisure for you to explore independently or alternatively why not join our optional excursion:

Harbour Cruise & Alcatraz - Cruise under the Golden Gate Bridge and close to Alcatraz.

Harbour Cruise & Alcatraz - This super cruise passes underneath the Golden Gate Bridge and also sails close to Alcatraz Island, with its infamous prison – once home to the notorious Al Capone. Opened to the public in 1937, the Golden Gate Bridge has become the iconic landmark of San Francisco and you’ll see it in all its glory as you pass underneath it.

DAY 6: San Francisco
Today you are free to relax or enjoy one of our optional excursions:

Muir Woods & Sausalito - Head to the giant redwood trees of Muir Woods and the artists’ colony of Sausalito.

Flight over San Francisco & under Golden Gate Bridge - Enjoy a bird’s eye view of the world famous bridge (weather permitting).

DAY 7
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

DAY 8
Arrival in the UK.
