Product Department

The Role

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for product innovation for 3 core brands and stand alone specialist markets, to ensure that the company is at the forefront of the escorted tours market.

Reporting directly to the Product & Purchasing Director, you will be responsible for researching and developing competitive products and purchasing hotel and ground contracts as well as the responsibility for their commercial performance. You will be expected to grow the specialist product revenue and increase profit margins. Identify long-term strategic opportunities for new product development in line with business goals and marketing strategy.

You will need:

• Minimum 5 years senior management experience in a product department of a large travel operator
• Experience in product development at senior management level
• Experience of contracts and purchasing
• Ability to analyse and interpret management information on sales, margins and market data
• Knowledge of how yield control operates in a group tour environment
• Formal product and/ or purchasing training within a blue chip travel company preferred
• People management and training experience
• Educated to degree level or equivalent business experience

This is a permanent full time role, working during the core hours of the business (Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.30pm). Extended working hours will be required at times to meet the needs of the Product Department. Overseas travel will be required.
