Pete Raine, a lifelong naturalist, experienced lecturer, writer and broadcaster, is an excellent communicator. He talks with passion and authority about birds, plants, insects, the history of the planet and the forces that have made our wildlife what it is. He has led expeditions to the remoter parts of Scotland, Iceland, the Faroes and the Canaries and his talks continue to delight passengers on voyages to Scandinavia, the north Atlantic, Mediterranean and the Amazon.

Accommodation

Ocean Majesty

All cabins are well-appointed and pleasantly furnished. Each cabin has its own private shower, washbasin and wc, telephone, satellite TV with film channel, three radio channels of entertainment and air-conditioning. Cabin categories J and K have DVD players and DVDs will be available for hire on board.

If you intend to make the most of the ship’s facilities and the shore excursions on offer, you may only need your cabin to be a base in which to settle at night. The most economical option is an inside two-bedded cabin, on Jade deck in category A. However, if you think you will want to spend more time in your cabin, you may want to pay a little more for an outside cabin with a window or porthole, or for a cabin on a higher deck. Categories D and E have a porthole, and all other categories have a larger window. A limited number of double beds are available in category I, and all category K cabins are double bedded. In some cabins in categories A, F, G, H, I, and J an additional upper berth is available, and an additional two upper berths in some cabins in categories A and G. In these, there will be a reduction of up to 60% for extra adults sharing a cabin with two full fare paying passengers. Single cabins are available in categories D and E. Some twin cabins are also available for single occupancy in Categories A to I at a supplement of 75% on the prices shown in the price panels.

Whichever category you choose, everyone on board enjoys access to all the ship’s facilities, as well as the attentive service of a cabin steward who will see to your every need throughout the day – a level of service unique to cruising.

Sunday 14th June - Harwich

Monday 15th - Cruising at sea

Tuesday 16th - Olden
Arrive 1230 – Depart 1900
Just beyond the charming, timbered village of Olden at the head of Nordfjord, lie the tranquil waters of Oldenvatnet, one of the most beautiful glacial lakes in Norway. Nearby is the Briksdal Glacier, which you can visit on one of our shore excursions. For a more relaxing trip, join our panoramic tour around the fjord.

Wednesday 17th - Cruising at sea.
Join in the festivities on deck as the staff and crew perform the traditional ‘crossing the Arctic Circle’ ceremony.

Thursday 18th - Leknes, Lofoten Islands
Arrive 1000 – Depart 1800
Leknes is situated on the largest of the Lofoten Islands, Vestvagoy. Its rugged beauty, craggy peaks and soaring cliffs provide the ideal nesting ground for an abundance of birdlife. Join a shore excursion to the picturesque village of Nusfjord and the Vestvagoy Fishing Museum, which demonstrates how fishermen lived many years ago.

Friday 19th - Honningsvag (for the North Cape)
Arrive 2000 – Depart 0100
Honningsvag is situated 1,200 miles from the North Pole, and is the starting point for our shore excursion to the North Cape. Here, as you stand on the 300-metre high cliffs, you’ll feel as though you are on top of the world. Cast your gaze across the vast expanse of Arctic Ocean and marvel at the phenomenon of the Midnight Sun, a truly unforgettable experience (weather permitting). We return to the Ocean Majesty to sail past the North Cape and look up at the sheer magnificence of the cliffs.

Saturday 20th - Alta
Arrive 0900 – Depart 2200
Alta has a surprisingly warm summer climate. Optional excursions include a visit to Hjemmeluft, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of rock carvings that are believed to be 2,500 years old, or a trip to the Tirpitz War Museum.

Sunday 21st - Tromso
Arrive 0800 – Depart 1400
Tromso is a delightful mix of traditional wooden houses and striking modern architecture. Optional excursions include a city tour and a visit to a husky camp.

Monday 22nd - Cruising at sea

Tuesday 23rd - Alesund
Arrive 0800 – Depart 1700
Devastated by fire in 1904, Alesund was rebuilt in Art Nouveau style with colourful, extravagantly decorated facades, spires and turrets, which give this lively fishing community a fairytale appearance. Optional excursions include a visit to the neighbouring outer islands of Giske and Godoy and a trip to the fascinating open-air museum to see traditional scenes from Norwegian life throughout the ages.

Wednesday 24th - Bergen
Arrive 0800 – Depart 1800
The ‘Gateway to the Fjords’ is a city steeped in history. The colourfully painted and gabled former warehouses of the Bryggen are now home to craft stores and friendly cafés. Optional excursions include a ride up into the hills for a spectacular view over the city or a visit to the home of composer Edvard Grieg at Troldhaugen.

Thursday 25th – Cruising at sea.
Today you will receive a certificate to commemorate crossing the Arctic Circle.

Friday 26th - Harwich
Arrive 0800
