Walking Information

Our walks require a reasonable level of fitness and ideally some previous walking experience. You will need comfortable walking boots, a small rucksack, waterproofs, a hat and sunglasses. A local guide will also accompany you on your walks.

Grade 2 Walks
These are moderate, for anyone who is comfortable walking hills. Still plenty of time to rest and enjoy the scenery, however up to 5 hours walking a day on slightly more rugged terrain. Ascent less than 500m per day.

Accommodation

The Anthemus Sea Village Hotel is situated directly on the peaceful and private Elia beach. The hotel has a pleasant open-air beach taverna, where you can enjoy local dishes, as well as an indoor restaurant. In the evening relax with your favourite drink at the pool bar. All bedrooms feature balcony or terrace, TV, telephone and private facilities.

Resort

We have chosen the Bay of Elia on the west coast peninsula of Sithonia, around 6 miles south of Nikiti, as your base. Known for its unspoilt beauty, spectacular mountainous terrain, glorious beaches, charming little ports and picturesque villages, the region blends traditional beauty and hospitality with contemporary pleasures and amenities.

Included Walks and Activities

Monastery of Agios Pavlos & Scenic Petros - A half day tour, featuring a walk through olive groves and pine forests, following the trail once used by collectors of resin and honey for which this region is famous (approx 4 hours’ walk).

Porto Koufo to Kapros - Enjoy this leisurely walk starting from the beautiful natural harbour of Porto Koufo on the west coast of Sithonia. Our scenic route follows local farm tracks through an area rich in flora and fauna to reach the remote headland of Kapros. Enjoy spectacular views before returning to Porto Koufo (approx. 3 hours’ walk).

Sani to Siviri - One of the most beautiful walks in Halkidiki. We follow the red clay cliffs and unspoilt beaches to the delightful coastal village of Siviri (approx. 3½ hours’ walk). A traditional meze lunch is included.

Neos Marmaras up to Parthenonas - This delightful walk begins from Neos Marmaras and features a visit to the once abandoned village of Parthenonas, a typical Macedonian settlement which has now been rebuilt (approx. 2½ hours’ walk – steep in parts).

Mount Athos Cruise - This is a fabulous full day coach and cruise excursion to Mount Athos, the only monastic republic within Europe. The cruise will take us past unique monasteries, which rarely receive visitors. Lunch in Ouranoupolis is included.

Thessaloniki - A full day excursion to the capital of Macedonia and one of the oldest cities in Europe. We include a short sightseeing tour with a local guide to see such sights as the Church of St. Dimitrios, the archaeological museum and the ancient city walls. After an included lunch you are free to explore the delightful old town or perhaps stroll down to the harbour front before a return coach transfer to your hotel.

There will be swimming opportunities in lovely secluded bays, your Tour Manager will advise you of the full programme.
