Accommodation

You will stay in the Hotel Austria in Söll. This centrally located hotel is next to the village church and offers a bar and restaurant. All bedrooms have private facilities, TV, hairdryer and telephone.

Accommodation in Oberammergau will be in a comfortable guesthouse (category GC2), either in Oberammergau village itself or nearby.

In the Rhineland, you will stay at the Hotel Weinlaube in Koblenz. The hotel has a bar and restaurant and all rooms feature private facilities.

Itinerary

DAY 1
Local departure and a mid-morning departure to Calais. On arrival, continue to northern France for an overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis.

DAY 2
You will continue southwards into Germany, then cross the border into Austria. Continue to the resort of Söll, where you will stay for five nights.

DAYS 3 TO 6
Relax and enjoy your surroundings or join one of our optional excursions:

Around the Wilder Kaiser
Enjoy a three-quarter day circular tour to the former border town of Kufstein, situated on the river Inn. Later in the day, pay a visit to the lakeside village of Walchsee.

Salzburg
A full day tour to one of Europe’s best preserved historic cities, set amongst wonderful Alpine scenery. The centre has hardly changed since Mozart’s time; baroque domed churches, merchant houses and hidden arcaded courtyards are still dominated by the magnificent Hohensalzburg Fortress. If shopping is your passion, then a stroll along the narrow Getreidegasse is a must.

Innsbruck & Rattenberg
This full day tour takes you to Innsbruck, the capital of the Tirol region, and the glass-making town of Rattenberg which, like Innsbruck, is sat on the River Inn.

DAY 7
After breakfast, we leave the Tirol and cross the border back into Germany. We arrive in the village of Oberammergau in time for lunch, which is included today. It’s then time to sit down for the Passion Play, which continues into the evening, stopping for a three course included dinner in the interval. You will stay overnight in Oberammergau or the surrounding area.

DAY 8
This morning, head north into Germany’s Rhineland for a two night stay.

DAY 9
Relax and enjoy your surroundings or join our optional three-quarter day excursion to the Rhine Valley. You’ll be taken to the Rhine Gorge, and then on to Rüdesheim for an included wine tasting.

DAY 10
Continue to Calais for a late afternoon crossing to the UK, returning to your departure point in the evening.
