DAY 1 - UK/FRANCE
Depart on your scheduled flight to Marseille. On arrival transfer to your hotel in the spa town of Greoux-les-bains for a six night stay.
DAYS 2 TO 6 - GREOUX-LES-BAINS
Free to relax and enjoy our programme of included guided walks and sightseeing.
River Verdon, St. Laurent & Quinson
Travel to the River Verdon, where you will walk along the river through beautiful scenery in the company of a local guide, before stopping for a picnic on the shores of a lake. After lunch we continue to St. Laurent, then by coach to the picturesque medieval village of Quinson (approx. 4 hours’ walk).
Riez & the Gorges du Verdon
Our full day included excursion takes us to the charming town of riez, with its ancient fortifications and roman ruins, surrounded by lavender fields. We will pay a visit to La Maison de l’Abeille to see how honey is made and enjoy a tasting of the different varieties. We will continue to the spectacular Gorges du Verdon, the largest gorge in Europe, known as the ‘Grand Canyon’ of Provence.
Plateau de Valensole, Lurs & Forcalquier
Today our walk begins on the Plateau de Valensole, from where we visit a lavender distillery. Following a picnic lunch, we take a short bus ride to the medieval hilltop village of Lurs, and walk to a water-driven oil mill, and then on to the medieval fortified town of Forcalquier, where we enjoy a herb liqueur tasting in a local distillery (approx. 4 hours’ walk).
Aix-en-Provence & Saint-Maximin-la- Sainte-Baume
Today we visit the delightful town of Aix-en-Provence. Spend some time on the tree-lined Cours Mirabeau at the heart of the city, where you can relax with a coffee at one of the pavement cafés. With narrow winding streets lined by 16th and 17th century houses and the beautiful Cathedral of St. Sauveur, Aix is a wonderful place to visit. From here we travel to Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte- Baume for a tour of the basilica.
Moustiers-Sainte-Marie
Today we visit one of the most beautiful villages in France, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. Walk past gardens and olive groves, and along hillside tracks for stunning views over Lake Sainte-Croix. After a picnic lunch we walk into the village itself, through the pretty streets lined with shops selling traditional glazed pottery (approx. 4 hours’ walk).
DAY 7 - Transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK.
