One of Germany’s most picturesque towns, Monschau is just across the Belgian border in the volcanic Eifel Hills and is an absolute delight – a fairy tale town with a castle on the hill, a rushing river, cosy cafés and welcoming taverns.
We stay at Einruhr, an attractive little village situated beside the Obersee Lake in the north of the Eifel National Park. There are marked walking trails and a real feeling of being deep in traditional Germany.
