The beautiful rolling scenery of the Harz region, Germany’s northernmost mountain range, is the setting for this fascinating holiday. We combine the magic of enchanting medieval towns with the chance of a ride on the unique Harz Narrow Gauge Railway.
As well as a super programme in the Harz, we include a visit to Hamelin, legendary home of the famous Pied Piper, plus you will see the impressive Möhne Dam of ‘Dambusters’ fame.

A full day tour to this vibrant city packed with culture, history and fabulous attractions. Our guided tour introduces such sights as the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden, the State Opera House, the famed border crossing site ‘Checkpoint Charlie’, Alexanderplatz and the TV Tower. The afternoon is at leisure to explore further.

- Harz Narrow Gauge Railway
This full day excursion includes an unforgettable narrow gauge rail trip from Wernigerode up to the Brocken station at a height of over 3,490 ft, with magnificent views over the Hochharz National Park along the way. After enjoying the ride down you have free time in the delightful medieval centre of Wernigerode.

- Rosarium & Kyffhäuser Memorial
A wonderful opportunity to visit the Rosarium featuring the world’s largest collection of roses, many of which are in bloom from the end of May. We continue to the Kyffhäuser castle which dates back to the Middle Ages. Many parts of the castle have been restored and you will have time to wander round plus enjoy the wonderful views.

- Specialities of the Harz
Enjoy an afternoon excursion to a glass manufacturer to learn about the history of glass-blowing, a tradition associated with the Harz region. From here we continue to the family-run ‘Friederich’ bakery and café for a demonstration on how the local ‘tree cake‘ is made – don’t forget to sample some for yourself!
