The recently opened Rheinsteig is a spectacular walking trail across the hills overlooking the majestic River Rhine. It’s easy to explore the romantic Middle-Rhine Valley in stages. Our guided walks will take you along the most scenic sections past magnificent castles, pretty villages, vineyards, and lush flowering hillsides with many places to stop and admire the breathtaking views.
You will stay in the popular wine town of Rüdesheim on the Rhine, where you can relax after the day’s walks and sample the delicious local wines.
Included excursions
-
- Kestert
This walk takes you to the village of Kestert. You will walk through the nature trail and pass the Sterrenberg and Liebenstein castles. Shortly before Kestert there will be a wonderful viewpoint overlooking the Rhine. After time to relax, board the train for the return journey (approx. 5 hours’ walk).
-
- Braubach
Meet your local guide and set out for your walk along the Rheinsteig footpath to Braubach (approx. 7 hours’ walk). It will be possible to do a shorter version of this walk, if desired. A visit to the Marksburg Castle overlooking the Rhine is included, before returning to the hotel by coach.
-
- Kaub/Oberwesel
For those of you who are feeling really fit, and fancy something a bit more challenging, we offer the Königsetappe or ‘royal stage’ of the Rheinsteig from the Loreley to Kaub. Our coach will take you to the Loreley visitor’s centre for the start of the walk. After a couple of hours, a stop will be made at a viewpoint known as the Waldschule for a picnic. After lunch the walk continues along the Rheinsteig trail as far as Dörscheid/Kaub to catch the river boat back to Rüdesheim (approx. 6 hours’ walk).
The shorter walk is on the other side of the river. The coach takes you to St. Goarshausen where you cross on the car ferry to St. Goar and you set out along the Rhine Castle trail to Oberwesel. There will be time to explore Oberwesel before returning to Rüdesheim by river boat (approx. 5hours’ walk).
