Salzburg
A full day tour to the ‘Sound of Music’ city, one of the best preserved historic cities in all of Europe. Set amongst wonderful alpine scenery, Salzburg is dominated by the magnificent Hohensalzburg Fortress which can be reached either by foot or funicular. The centre has hardly changed since Mozart’s time; baroque domed churches, merchant houses and hidden arcaded courtyards. Visit Mozart’s Square situated in the heart of the city, the Dom (cathedral) and the splendid Mirabell Gardens. If shopping is your passion, then a stroll along the narrow Getreidegasse is a must.
Lakeland Tour
A full day tour of some of the region’s prettiest spots, such as Mondsee and St. Wolfgang, home to the famous ‘White Horse Inn’.
Hallstatt
A half day tour featuring the lovely lakeside village of Hallstatt. It’s a photographer’s paradise, with so many wonderful spots to get superb shots.
Vienna (optional)
Full day trip to visit Austria’s stylish capital city. Vienna’s history stretches back 2,000 years. It has received the honorary title of ‘World Capital of Music’, which is hardly surprising when you look at the great musicians who have lived and worked in the city. To us though, Vienna is the capital of elegance and style, with the magnificent St. Stephen’s Cathedral as the focal point. Highlights include sights such as the Schönbrunn Palace, Opera House, Hofburg Palace and Musikverein.
Southern Bohemia (optional)
A superb full day trip crossing the River Danube into the Czech Republic to visit the lovely old town of Cesky Krumlov. Sat on the banks of the River Vltava, the magnificent medieval town of Cesky Krumlov boasts narrow winding streets. It is no wonder that it’s been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Perhaps pay a visit to the historic State Castle and Chateau of Cesky Krumlov, perched up on the cliffs above the river.
Day 10: Northern Germany
Time to head home via northern Germany for a final overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis.
Meals: Breakfast
Day 11: Northern France/UK
Continue to Calais for a late afternoon crossing back to the UK, returning to your original departure point in the evening.
