Lake Bolsena

Spend a glorious week in a lakeside resort on the shores of Tuscany’s beautiful Lake Bolsena, one of Italy’s most attractive regions, famed for its scenery and flora. With a great range of optional excursions including Italy’s capital city Rome and the charming medieval hilltop towns of Umbria, you’ll enjoy a feast of scenic, cultural and architectural treasures.

Lake Bolsena is the largest volcanic lake in Italy and the surrounding countryside is typified by rolling plains, fertile hills of olive groves and vineyards. Located on the Tuscany/Umbria border it is the ideal location for our selection of optional excursions.

You will spend seven nights in the lakeside resort of Bolsena, at the northern end of the lake. The historic centre of this picturesque town is dominated by the Monaldeschi Castle and a walk along the ramparts allows fabulous views of the lake below.

There is a good selection of bars, restaurants and cafés, both in the historic centre as well as along the lake shore and you can even take a swim in the clear waters of the lake.
