In Barcelona you will stay at one of the 4 star Catalonia Group Hotels, located within reach of the city centre.

In Andorra you will stay in the excellent 4 star Hotel Nordic which nestles at the foot of the El Tartar slopes in the beautiful scenic surroundings of Soldeu. The hotel is built in traditional Catalan style and has a bar, restaurant, games room, garden, lift, indoor pool and gym. A bowling alley, sauna and solarium are available at extra cost. All bedrooms have private facilities, TV, telephone, minibar, safe and hairdryer.

In Carcassone you will stay at the 3 star Hotel les oliviers which is located just a few hundred metres from the entrance to the medieval city. Rooms feature private facilities. Hotel amenities include a swimming pool, restaurant with a terrace and free wi-fi.

On the Costa Brava you will stay in the 4 star Hotel Golden Bahia, in Tossa de Mar. Hotel amenities include a selection of swimming pools (one indoor), bar, restaurant, roof terrace and lift. Bedrooms feature private facilities, satellite TV and telephone.

Itinerary

Day 1: UK/Barcelona

Depart on your scheduled flight to Barcelona. On arrival transfer to your hotel on the outskirts of the city for an overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2: Barcelona

This morning we include a panoramic tour of Barcelona which is the second largest city in Spain and the capital of Catalonia. See the magnificent cathedral and medieval alleyways, climb the Monjuic hills for stunning views over the city and don’t forget to stroll down Las Ramblas. We then drive north through the heart of Catalonia and into the spectacular scenery of the Pyrenees Mountains to the Principality of Andorra. Enjoy a three-night stay, on a half-board basis, in the mountain resort of Soldeu.

Andorra La Vella

Join our half day tour into the mountain principality of Andorra. Visit the capital town of Andorra La Vella, where you can do some serious duty free shopping and pick up bargain priced goods. The main sights include the Church of Santa Coloma which was built in the 9th and 10th centuries and the Casa de la Vall, the seat of Parliament which dates back to the 16th century.

Three Valleys (optional)

A half day trip ‘off the beaten track’ through Andorra’s stunning mountain scenery. Exploring sleepy villages hidden among cool pine forests as you go.

Day 5: Carcassonne

Time to leave the tiny principality of Andorra for the journey into France. You will arrive around lunchtime in the magnificent fortified medieval town of Carcassonne. This is the largest fortress in Europe and certainly the most impressive. Wander through the narrow streets and take in the panoramic views of the countryside from the fortress walls. We have plenty of time to explore the impressive citadel, whose huge ramparts and towers still watch over the city and don’t miss the beautiful Church of St Nazaire, before checking into our hotel in the area for an overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 6: Collioure

Today we head south and visit the delightful old French fishing port of Collioure, with its brightly coloured houses and matching fishing boats. Take a walk down its medieval streets and visit the lighthouse which has been converted into the Church of Notre-Dame-des-Anges. From here we continue to Spain’s Costa Brava for a four-night stay on a half board basis. Our hotel is located in the charming seaside resort of Tossa de Mar with its unspoilt old town, lovely sandy beaches, promenade, restaurants, bars and amenities.

Days 7 - 9: Tossa de Mar

Attractive Tossa de Mar has an unspoilt old town creating a historic atmosphere, and also boasts narrow cobbled streets and whitewashed houses, lovely sandy beaches and a promenade that’s perfect for an evening stroll. There is a good selection of restaurants, bars and amenities in the town. You are free to relax or enjoy our optional excursion programme.

Montserrat (optional)

A three-quarter day tour visiting Catalonia’s holiest place, the famous cliff-side monastery of Montserrat which dates back to 1844, the original having been destroyed during the War of Independence. The monastery is inhabited by around 80 monks who live according to the rule of Saint Benedict. One of the attractions is the statue of the Virgin Mary, the soul of Montserrat.

Coastline Tour (optional)

A three-quarter day tour along the spectacular coastline of the Costa Brava which boasts wooded coves, high cliffs, pretty beaches and deep blue waters as well as attractive coastal towns and villages.

Heart of Catalonia (optional)

A three-quarter day tour visiting the medieval town of Besalú with its striking approach across a fortified bridge which features a gateway at its midpoint. The town also features a restored Mikva – a ritual jewish bath dating back from the 11th or 12th century as well as the remains of a medieval synagogue.

Day 10: Barcelona/UK

Transfer back to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
