Day 3: Masai Mara

Today we have an early morning start for the drive south-west through the Rift Valley to the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve, one of the world’s most enthralling wildlife theatres, and where much of the movie ‘Out of Africa’ was filmed. The reserve is home to the ‘Big Five’ - lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo - and each year is the spectacular setting for the great wildebeest and zebra migration. You will stay for two nights at the Ashnil Mara Camp. After an included lunch en route, you will enjoy an afternoon game drive in the reserve arriving at your camp in time for dinner.

This morning, you can either take an early morning game drive before breakfast, or take an optional early morning balloon trip with champagne breakfast - a real highlight of your Kenyan holiday. The rest of the day is at leisure in the lodge, with lunch included. Late afternoon, enjoy another game drive in the reserve before dinner at the camp.

Days 6 - 8: Mombasa

You are free to relax on Mombasa’s beautiful white powder beaches, shaded by swaying palms and lapped by the warm tropical waters of the Indian Ocean. You will find a wide variety of facilities to enjoy at our hotel that allow you to make the most of your stay in this beautiful setting. We also offer the following optional excursions to help you make the best of this beautiful location:

Meals: Breakfast / dinner

Mombasa City Tour

Experience the city of Mombasa - essentially an island joined to the mainland by two causeways and a bridge. Our half-day tour will introduce you to the best this historic and multi-cultural city has to offer. Sights of the city include the charming Old Town, with its maze of narrow lanes and countless shops selling souvenirs, and Fort Jesus. Designed by an Italian and built by the Portuguese in the late 16th century, Fort Jesus has a chequered history, being fought over, won and lost many times.

Dolphin Dhow

Take a trip aboard a dhow - a traditional sailing boat - in the company of dolphin experts, in search of the majestic sea mammals that so often grace the area. Lunch on board the dhow is included, as are your drinks (wine, beer and soft drinks).

Meals: Lunch

Tamarind Dhow

Board a dhow for a cruise around Tudor Creek, to the north of Mombasa island, admiring the excellent views of Mombasa’s Old Town and Fort Jesus. You will then moor in a sheltered bay, whilst a chef prepares a wonderful four-course seafood dinner on a flaming charcoal grill. After you’ve eaten, a band will play, you’ll soon be up on your feet dancing! It’s then time to re-board the dhow for the journey back

Tamarind & Ngomongo or Haller Park

On this full-day excursion, you will enjoy a trip aboard the Tamarind Dhow before heading to either the village of Ngomongo, where you will get a taste of traditional life, or Haller Park, located in a former cement quarry and now a successful rejuvenation and reforestation project which enables you to take a nature trail and see a wide variety of flora and fauna.

Day 9: Mombasa

Transfer to Mombasa airport for your return flight to the UK.

Meals: Breakfast

Day 10: UK
