DAY 1 - UK/BEIJING
Depart on your scheduled flight to beijing.
DAY 2 - BEIJING
On arrival in Beijing, you will be met by your Tour Manager and transferred to your hotel for a two night stay.
DAY 3 - BEIJING
Today you will enjoy an included full day Beijing sightseeing tour. Ancient temples and palaces stand proudly beside the vast 20th century civic buildings created by Chairman Mao and his people. The most modern architecture can also be seen with the iconic Olympic buildings – the Water Cube and the bird’s Nest. The heart of the city is Tian an Men Square, the largest public square in the world, bordered by the Qianmen Gate, the Great Hall of the People, and the Gate of Heavenly Peace, which forms the entrance to the incredible Forbidden City. These magnificent buildings house the former Imperial Palace, seat of the Chinese emperors for a thousand years. This evening there is a Peking Duck Dinner.
DAY 4 - GREAT WALL
Early this morning you will transfer to Beijing central railway station for the train to Qinghuangdao. Your coach transfer will take you to Shanhaiguan, where the Great Wall meets the sea. It juts out over 18m into the ocean and is often referred to as Old Dragon’s Head. A visit to the Great Wall Museum is included. Overnight accommodation is close by.
DAY 5 - GREAT WALL
This morning it is time for your first steps on the Great Wall, which is some 3,800 miles long and dates back around 2,600 years. Today you will walk for around three to four hours. In the afternoon you will transfer by coach to Zhun Hua for a two night stay at the International Hotel Zhun Hua or similar.
DAY 6 - GREAT WALL
Transfer this morning to the Great Wall at Luo Wen yu. Today you will walk for two to three hours, your destination being the Qu Ke yu. Afternoon visit to the Qing Tombs.
DAY 7 - GREAT WALL
Transfer to Huang ya Guan for a short walk lasting around an hour and a half to Tai Ping Zhai. Your overnight stay will be in Huang Ya Guan.
DAY 8 - GREAT WALL
This morning transfer to Ji Shan Ling. Today you will be walking for around four hours to Si Ma Ta. It is during today’s walk that you will reach the highest point on the Wall at 1,000m above sea level. Overnight accommodation at the Green Lake Hotel, Hai rou Xian or similar.
DAY 9 - GREAT WALL
Today’s walk begins in Mu Tian yu. This section of the wall served as the northern barrier in defence of the capital and the imperial tombs and was a place of military importance. The scenery is quite magnificent and much of the surrounding terrain is covered with plants and trees. This evening there will be a special Mongolian Dinner back in Beijing.
DAY 10 - BEIJING
Enjoy a visit to the Summer Palace, home of the largest and best preserved of all imperial palace gardens. You will continue to the world famous beijing Zoo to see the pandas. The rest of your day is at leisure.
DAY 11 - BEIJING/UK
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. As you will be flying westwards your arrival is later the same day.
