Depart on your scheduled flight to Beijing.
CHRISTMAS EVE
Arrival in Beijing. Transfer to your hotel for a three night stay. Afternoon and evening free to relax. Tonight we include a traditional Peking duck dinner.
CHRISTMAS DAY
This morning you will be taken on an introductory tour of Beijing. You will see Chang An Avenue, the Temple of Heaven, Tian an Men Square, and the Forbidden City, home to the Imperial Palace. A Chinese Christmas dinner is included this evening.
BOXING DAY
This morning we include a visit to the Great Wall, where there will be plenty of time to walk along the ramparts. Lunch is followed by a visit to the remarkable Ming Tomb Museum.
SUNDAY 27TH
A short visit will be made to see the pandas at Beijing Zoo, before visiting the magnificent 800-year-old Summer Palace. Afternoon transfer to the airport for the flight to Nanjing, where two nights’ accommodation has been arranged.
MONDAY 28TH
Nanjing, situated on the River Yangtze, is a delightful city of treelined boulevards, lively markets and ancient fortifications. A full day sightseeing tour is included.
TUESDAY 29TH & WEDNESDAY 30TH
This morning you take the train to Suzhou, where you stay for two nights.
NEW YEAR’S EVE
Suzhou is famous for its landscaped gardens, narrow canals and traditional Chinese architecture. You will visit several gardens, as well as silk and embroidery factories. Catch the late afternoon train to Shanghai on the 30th, for a two night stay. This evening there is an included New Year’s Eve dinner.
NEW YEAR’S DAY
Our included sightseeing programme offers the best of Shanghai. Highlights include Nanjing Road, the traditional Old Town, with its ancient Wu Xing Ting Teahouse, and the Yu Yuan Gardens. You will also visit the beautiful Jade Buddha Temple and have time to stroll along the Bund.
SATURDAY 2ND JANUARY 2010
Morning free in Shanghai. Afternoon transfer to the airport for the flight to Xian, where you stay for two nights.
SUNDAY 3RD
Today we include a visit to the site of the famous Terracotta Army at Li Shan Mountain. During the day you will also visit the Han Tombs. In the evening, there will be the opportunity to attend a Tang Dynasty Folklore Show.
MONDAY 4TH
Morning tour of Xian itself, including the Goose Pagodas and the city wall. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Guilin where you will stay for two nights.
TUESDAY 5TH
A full day tour, including a boat cruise on the majestic Li River to Yangshuo. The return drive passes through rice paddies and traditional Chinese farmland.
WEDNESDAY 6TH
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Hong Kong. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel where two nights’ accommodation has been arranged.
THURSDAY 7TH
An included morning sightseeing tour of Hong Kong Island, visiting Victoria Peak for the best view in town, Repulse Bay, and the fishing village of Aberdeen.
FRIDAY 8TH
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK, arriving later the same day.
