DAY 1 - UK/Arusha
Depart on your scheduled flight to Kilimanjaro in northern Tanzania via Amsterdam. Upon arrival you will transfer to Arusha where two nights’ accommodation has been arranged at the Arumeru River Lodge or similar.
DAY 2 - Arusha
Join our included morning city tour of Arusha, the safari capital of northern Tanzania, surrounded by the spectacular scenery of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, and the smaller but still impressive Mount Meru. Lunch in town before heading off to Arusha National Park for your first chance of game viewing.
DAY 3 - Tarangire
Morning departure for the drive to the Tarangire area and transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay. In the afternoon you will explore the vast expanse of Tarangire National Park offering the unique baobab trees as well as many herds of elephant.
DAY 4 - Lake Manyara
Morning departure for the drive to the top of the Rift Valley Escarpment and the Lake Manyara Serena Lodge for an overnight stay. This afternoon descend to the floor of the escarpment for game viewing in the Lake National Park. This smaller park offers a great variety of primates.
DAY 5 - Ngorongoro
Morning drive across the wheat plains, past maize fields and coffee farms to Gibbs Farm, at the edge of the Great Rift Valley, which extends 3,000 miles from north Syria to central Mozambique. Here you can enjoy the tranquillity of rural life in a timeless setting. Lunch is included. This afternoon you will continue to the Ngorongoro area for a two night stay.
DAY 6 - Ngorongoro
Morning departure for a day of game viewing, spending half the day in the Ngorongoro Crater. You will descend into the crater in a four wheel drive vehicle. The crater is situated 7,500ft above sea level and is home to up to 25,000 large mammals, including zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, lion, cheetah, rhino and leopard. Countless flamingos form a beautiful pink blanket over the soda lakes. A picnic lunch is included today.
DAY 7 - Serengeti National Park
Morning departure for the drive to Serengeti National Park. A stop will be made at Olduvai Gorge. It was here that Dr Louis Leakey discovered the remains of one of the earliest humans. Tanzania now lays claim to the title ‘The Cradle of Mankind’ because of this. Upon arrival in Serengeti, you will transfer to your accommodation for a two night stay.
This afternoon we include a game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Serengeti means ‘endless plain’ in the Masai language, and within the boundaries of the park there are more than three million large mammals. 35 different species of plains animals can be seen here including the ‘Big Five’ – elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo.
DAY 8 - Serengeti National Park
Included morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti National Park.
DAY 9 - Serengeti National Park
Morning transfer to the Seronera airstrip for the flight to Arusha. Transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your return flight to the UK via Amsterdam and Dar es Salaam.
DAY 10 - UK
Arrival in the UK.
